X2, once you know what you're getting into you just get it done but more work than SW.

Damn, we need some rain here, dangerously dry and fire breaking out by just looking at the mountains wrong. Still trying to get my roof and skylights replaced, shingles are in high demand and roofers are here are working 7 days a week. If I could buy the shingles I'd do it myself.

I had to head up to Westcliffe yesterday for work, took the long way back home by Antero. This is the Weston Pass fire.

While I was up there, it rained, but not in the burn just south and east towards Hartsel.

Happy Friday ya'll!

Left northern Illinois noon on the 3rd. Stayed that night in emporia Kansas. Stayed the 4th in Tucumcari New Mexico. Made it to my mom's in Tucson last night.

Truck ran well. Drove about 65 in 5th most of the time. Had to use 4th for a while because of the wind. Everyone was going about 55.

I dropped to 3rd at 55 going up a pass on hwy 70 at white sands new Mexico. Truck was doing good in 4th but oil temperature was climbing so I backed off and slowed down. I was still passing semi's.

What is the maximum acceptable engine oil temperature ? I'm using the factory sender thru the pcm with torque pro. Coolant temperature gauge on the dash never even moved. Glad I don't rely on that .

Look up the oil you are using, that will tell you the temp range. That's how I would do it.

Sounds fun Brandon. We'll be taking i40 East for 1,400 miles next week with the 5th wheel. I haven't seen above 220* with Triax 5-40 this summer trip, usually around 180-200* till i downshift to climb

The big rig I drive runs at 240 most of the time. It's a Mack Pinnacle with 415 hp MP8 engine and conventional oil.

65* low humidity and clear skies here, I feel like I've awaken in a different world. Just in time to fix the lawnmower, which had some pretty big parts fall out the bottom of it last run. At 25 years old nuts and bolts are supposed to be frozen in place not falling out.

Oil temps are good up above what our trucks would ever see. I used to worry about because my 97 OBS would get into 245* on hard pull with my trailer, but the 99 never sees above 235*. The 180* thermostat will help oil temps quite a bit. Sounds like a good trip!

Hope everyone had a good 4th.

Zach, I have heard the fires in your area right now are pretty bad. Hope all goes ok. Holler if you get in a bind. I'm about 5 hours and would have no problem helping put your livestock somewhere if you need it. I have truck and trailer, will travel.

The 4th was very dangerous here this year. There were a crap load of accidents. A guy at the mill had a roman candle explode in his hand, lost his thumb and middle and ring fingers, and tips of the pointer and pinky fingers. 2 separate professional displays had a worker get injured from a premature detonation. The life flight helicopters were flying nonstop all over the place between the main hospital or the VA. My co-worker had a festival ball explode in the tube. Glad i stayed home and watched out our massive windows with Netflix and the A.C.

We tend to stay in during the big holidays as well. Just too many people out looking to squeeze a "good time" into a long weekend. A cold beer and my family do just fine when everyone else is trying to run around.

Also, our little town swells in population because of the lake during holidays. We are always sure to get to town for our weekly errands before the tourists start arriving.

Thanks Byron! Fortunately I'm pretty far from the fires, just was up in that area for work.
One thing about where I live, most folks are always helping each other out. During any close by fires they open the fairgrounds and let folks use the corrals.

I'm just like you, I have 2 trailers sitting and can hook and go if someone is ever in need.

BTW, 3rd largest fire in CO history, The Spring Fire, is human caused and the perp has been arrested and charged. 105k acres last I checked
