I started something here by saying burgers...

In-N-Out I tried twice when I was out on the west coast on temporary duty. It was good, but I didn't think it was the best, not by a far shot. What is the one with the works, animal burger or something?

Those homemade ones look great!

Well, down here in the deeper south, back in the woods outside of Selma, AL, there is this little hole in the wall roadside diner which caters to all the truckers and contractors and employees at a local paper making plant -- Hog Heaven. They finally screened in the picnic table outside several years ago, and that's the only place to sit unless you just want to sit in your car/truck. It's really nothing but a kitchen with a service window! Still, their burgers are only about $4, and I've never had a better burger anywhere. It's been over two years now since I've had one because the firm I'm with now doesn't service that particular plant. It's almost worth the 1 hour and 45 minute drive to go get one! They also have the bets onion rings I've ever had anywhere... fully cooked, soft inside, crispy outside, and not greasy at all!!

There's a local place here in CO, Crave Burgers, much like a burger you'd get at a craft beer joint. They have some good Adult milkshakes too.
edit
Some elk/bacon burgers I smoked a couple weeks ago, forgot an after pic.

Had to use my truck to return a tool to my in-laws today.

I just don't get the In N Out craze, and I am from California. I have never been sicker than from that place and their burgers are mediocre at best. I have plenty of friends that always tries to drag me there though, especially after a good surf session.

I kinda can't believe no one brought up Fuddruckers. Still one of the best IMO.

Fuddruckers had a good bison burger. In N Out is one of those love/hate things. Forgot about smashburger from here in CO, they are gaining traction.

Fuddruckers was (past tense) great, but a few years ago they went through some hard times as a business. At least in the SE part of the country they did and a lot of them died off. I actually saw a Fudruckers on the way home from Five Guys the other night and thought "well I didn't know that was there".

They also used to have a huge military discount at some locations. There was one in IA we stopped at that was 40% off.

They remodeled the Fuddruckers near me. Much better than it used to be. As for In-n-Out I like it but would not travel great distances to have one. I'd put it above other fast food places but below just about any sit-down restaurant.

And for Sous: everything on it is called "Animal Style" (https://secretmenus.com/in-n-out-burger/secret-menu/)

Right now my fave burger is 5 Guys. In-n-Out is still good, but I think quality slipped after they stopped giving out the easily modified bumper stickers.

My secret shame; I like Big Macs too. I scarfed on those Grand Macs they had for a while.

Add me to that list! I get a Big Mac at least twice a month and like you when they had the Grand Macs my trips to McD's were more than they should have been.

Well, I have always said I would try any food at least once. I guess I would have to add this to the list.

I have had some pretty strange foods during my travels around the world. Some were memorable for the right reasons, others for the wrong reasons. I remember having eel in Pusan South Korea. It was right on the harbor in a tent/shack with 3 seats and a small bar. The owner removed the eel from the tank, sliced it up and cooked it with seasoning for about 20 seconds. When we started eating it, the thing was still moving around. That is probably one of my most memorable because of the environment and the menu at the time.

While I am pretty much omnivorous there are some things I won't eat. They include bugs, things that are still alive like octopus, monkey brains, and Rocky Mountain oysters. I'll have to rely on other people's opinions on those foods.

I was in a small town outside of Queretaro, Mexico (Pedro Escobedo), and goat head was on display - complete with the sculls with the brain pans stuffed. Maybe if it was the zombie apocalypse and I was starving to death, but until then... I'm staying with plants and familiar meats that don't make me gag at the thought of it.
