The Marine Corps has my utmost respect because they are damn good at what they do.
Very true. While the Navy bases required stickers and scrutinized your ID card, the Marines were far less intense. Who is dumb enough to try to sneak onto a Marine base? Natural selection in action.

Even now with no DoD decals on vehicles the Navy bases make you stop, take your ID card, scan it (to check for outstanding citations/warrants), eyeball you, then let you be on your way. While the Marines do that during slower (non-commuting) times, when it's busy you hold your ID card out as you drive by, they wave you through, and off you go.

Well, got a Cyclops in the mail today today. Figure with all these flood stories it was past time to do more than just the annoying alarm stuff that came on it. May take some pics after work in the morning of the highly involved 2 minute install

Sheesh, I just noticed that half of our E Mo G's are gone! While that's funny, the real answer is it's an anti-theft device.

Byron, basically a remote control relay with a key fob to turn it on. Can swap it with IDM, fuel pump or whatever relay ya want. Whatever one ya wanna be the point of death during a break in

I had some downtime for the holiday and made a cart for my new generator. Now just have to buy the fifth wheel since I sold the pop up.

Dang it John! You keep posting this cool stuff you make with a welder which makes me wish I had one...

I need a cart like that for a new super quiet air compressor I bought recently.

I mean you made the rock tamers, now the cart... the welder will pay for itself after a short period.

Was a rough weekend emotinally here.
Did get to mess around with a sound meter today on the drive to work.

Just sitting in the ruck, with nothing on

Truck at idle, ac/radio off

Sound levels were around 70dBA while driving in town, a hard pull on the highway was right at 73d. Be interesting to see what it says towing heavy uphill. Maybe I'll get more improvement as i add more deadner when time allows

Well, this weekend I picked up a one owner 2002 Wildcat 27RK, although I have not run across the scale yet, specs say it’s 6870 lbs dry, with a carry capacity of 3530 lbs for a GVWR of 11,320. I find the carry capacity astonishing or maybe amusing considering the majority of my work is done with the 50 to 100+ lb Ruck depending on mission parameters and ROE. Needless to say the girlfriend will never know how much crap we could take with us because it will end up looking like her damn purse! .
I’m coming from a 1995 Jayco pop-up that I heavily modified to this fifth wheel... I will say towing it home other than the brakes needing to be adjusted the truck handled it very well .

3700 lbs loaded...

Looks great John! That's a nice step up. That pop-up looks like you did some work to it.
