I was looking to upgrade from the kids (1/2 ton) table and sit at the adult (3/4 ton) table. I narrowed it down to the 5.9L 12-valve Cummins (love the engine...hated the truck it came in) or the Powerstroke 7.3L. We all know how that turned out.

I joined all the forums that had 99-03 7.3L sections and gravitated to this one as everyone here seemed more my speed. A lot of forums are shoot first and ask questions later and this forum is the opposite. While you can speak more freely on those this one has more comraderie IMHO.

I was a user here for over a year before I found my truck. Shortly after buying it my first post was about shimming the FPR. A month later I asked about the H&H mod and it was all downhill from there.

This XDS was given to me by my last unit as a retirement gift. Just the other day I decided that I would use it as my secondary carry weapon and store it in our camper.

I bought a holster off ebay similar to the one I have for my primary carry weapon (Kahr CM9). The Kahr holster has an olive drab colored flag on it though.

Very happy with the holsters fit and finish. Plus the gray flag matches the slide on the weapon.

Sous, is that in 9 mm or something else? Been out of the shooting game for a while and I am more of a rifle guy in the first place.

Nice XDS, Sous. I love my XD45 Service model (I did the PRP match trigger in it, and it is one sweet handling piece of work).

It is a 9mm. The guy that was heading up the purchase and engraving of it was tricky and was asking questions about a carry weapon "for himself" to see what I preferred. I have thousands of rounds of 9mm and two carry weapons that are 9mm that I am comfortable with carrying and shooting accurately. It is a very comfortable weapon right out of the box. My Kahr has a short stack clip, so I had to buy a finger holder/extender for my pinke and then had a piece of stainless steel shaped into a hump of sorts and attached to the rear of the handle for more comfort and better fit to my hand. Both are fine weapons, but I really liked how the XDS was ready to go from the box.

I was very surprised to receive it as a retirement gift. Was a very nice gesture and something that they wanted to do because I had helped so many of them in advancing their careers. Those PRP triggers are nice, that is for sure.

I've been very very happy with mine, and all my sons LOVE to shoot my XD. I got it tuned to the point where there is virtually no over-travel, and the overall trigger pull length has been reduced without becoming too short.

Yes sir! My wife carries a .22 pistol that carries 12 rounds in it. She is a crack shot with it and deadly accurate. I have always told her that 2 hits with a .22 is much better than 7 misses with a .45 or 9mm.

I came to FTE as an OBS guy (97 F-350 CCLB Dually) and a former Duramax/Cummins owner. Though I had owned a 7.3 before, I knew NOTHING....NOTHING about really making one run right. I have made great friends and great strides these last 6 plus years owning 7.3s and realizing they are the best all around diesel truck....FOR ME. No, I am not trying to start a debate.

In short, I LOVE this place and look forward to talking to you guys every morning. Sad, I know....don't make fun. Oh, and don't go from an OBS to a Superduty. Those guys get pretty upset when you do that....LOL Also, I LOVE my SD.....wouldn't go back to an OBS if I had all the money to make it right.....no thanks. Been there, done that 3 times already. The comfort and foundation are second to none.

What I have not made great strides with is my dyslexic typing....ah well....it's endearing, right?

ZachinCO is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
I came to FTE after being frustrated at another site. Been a much smoother road here, better all around.

I do a lot more reading than posting, mainly I have no where near the knowledge base lots of folks here have. Learn all the time from everyone, which is great.

BTW, I carry a RIA 9mm 1911 in a Milt Sparks IWB holster. My daughter is going to be carrying a S&W M&P Shield in 9mm. She just got her CCW.
