The only ones making money on beef are the chain stores, and perhaps the feed lots. Even high end suppliers of breeding stock are scraping by.

Gave up shoeing horses (only did my own string) a few years ago, willing to pay young folks to handle it now!

Been chilly over night here - low 20's but zero rain. Latest info on the fire a bit South of us was at 100K acres this morning. Eight civilians dead and three firefighters injured.

I’m surprised that California allows forest fires with their emissions you’d think they’d be banned.
Looks like some serious cold and snow coming in over night.

"I think it's gonna one of the worst in CA history."

Byron, it made the top of the list this morning as far as most destructive. Not sure about overall size - yet.

I watch these fires every year from a distance and thank the men and women that fight them for their struggle against what seems to be an unbeatable foe. We have family in north ID, and seen this sort of thing up close before. I will never forget when we were on vacation out there and eve9was covered in ash. There was so much ash falling from the sky it looked like snow.

The sun was purple, like a no kidding purple when you could see it through the smoke.

Be safe out there and evacuate if you have to. Things and homes can be rebuilt or replaced, lives cannot.

Well, the surrounding areas got anywhere from 3”-12”+ of snow, looking like Winter is alive and well. Y’all be safe out there.

Rain and low 40's early this morning, but that didn't stop me from firing up the smoker at 0200. Went out to check on it at 0430, then 0700 and now it is just maintenance until dinner.

Stay warm up there you northerners...
