Forged pistons stock ?

I was watching something on u tube where they took a mustang 5.0 and put a turbo on a stock motor, they mentioned 87 - 92 years should work. Which leads to my question, did they ever put forged internals, pistons or anything else in the 5.0 or 5.8 truck motors (or maybe only mustangs or other HO ) ? If so do you know which years ?

The "H.O." Motors from 85-92 had forged pistons. Mid 92 and up went with hyper pistons.

No, it was only the 5.0 HO that got forged pistons and that motor was never installed in a truck.

I was about half asleep and didn't read the truck part. I was discussing Mustang motors, not truck motors. Conanski is correct.

It has been said on this thread several times that trucks never got the HO 5.0. I have a 96 with a 5.0 backed by a 4r70w. According to the firing order it is an HO 5.0. That being said I am sure it has hypereutectic pistons not forged, also the cam spec is a bit smaller than that of a Mustang HO. My understanding it that it is .422 lift 198 duration on the intake and .448 lift 20something duration on the exhaust. To answer your original question about the rockers the best way to make certain it will work is to get some clay and a solid roller lifter and check the clearances while you have it apart. It would be cheap insurance.

Ford changed 302 to the firing order to the 351W in trucks. That does not make it the same as a 302 H.O. that was in Mustangs and some Lincolns.

I think he posted in wrong thread, because he also said " To answer your original question about the rockers the best way to make certain it will work is to get some clay and a solid roller lifter and check the clearances while you have it apart. It would be cheap insurance"

nope. in the original post he was asking if he could use 1.7 ratio rockers.

I don’t see that mentioned anywhere in the original post.
