Did I Spot a 2020 Bronco Testing?
Spotted on Indian School Rd in Goodyear, AZ
Today I saw this Ford with heavy camo testing! It had an Expedition-like rear end/lift gate, 4 doors, and a 2015-17 F150 front clip. I was so excited to get some pictures, but the lady driving it sure wasn't excited for me to be taking them! She tried her best to outrun my cousin's little Cobalt, but I got some great shots! She made sure to turn away from us after I got them though. Let me know what you think!

So it's an Expedition prototype? I've never seen anything like it, and I thought since Ford announced the '18 Expedition, this couldn't have been that. No reason for camo anymore, since we know what '18s look like. Back in early 2016 I saw a black '17 Super Duty dually just cruising down the road, no camo, nothing. I guess rollerstud was right. Have no idea why it's driving around here, maybe high temp testing? The lady sure did high-tail it when she saw I was taking pictures.

It's clearly F150 based. Front end, winshield and door shapes confirm that. They're driving around for a reason. Who knows why. The overall shape doesn't match the new or old Expedition at all. It's too short for an Excursion. Plus it still has 6 lug wheels on it. It's probably still a usefull drivetrain test mule.

One thing I noticed is that the grille and bumper on the vehicle in Ohtee's spy picture are different than the one I posted, with a Platinum grille and model-year-matching bumper. The one I posted has an XLT grille and what appears to be a 12th-gen bumper, so that tells me there are two or more prototypes like this that exist or have existed.

Def looks big like an Expy to me. I am in the Detroit area and saw a 2018 Expedition with the right side in camo, the left side bare, in a parking lot in Troy the other day. It definitely had the Explorer-like slanted grille.
Guessing Ford is not top-secret on the 2018 Expy any more given all of the official intros they have made with photos. I will keep my eyes out for Rangers and Broncos though. A friend took a photo of an Everest in full camo around Dearborn a few months ago, so I am guessing that was a drivetrain mule for the new Bronco.

I think the test vehicle is a hack job tester, but I hope you understand that factory camo is not just a patterned overlay but also has giant padded shapes under the covering that keep photogs and competitors from seeing what the vehicle actually looks like. I've had a Chrysler test engineer drive things into my driveway (like the new Pacifica van before it was introduced) and it had all kinds of styrofoam under the covering--including on the dashboard--to disguise it ike a Halloween costume.
