Yes, PCV is regular maintainance item. Too often overlooked.
Had good luck with Borg Warner wire sets.

On the sbject of the pcv valve do you have a 96 351w? Have you replaced yours? Reason im askin is that I have a 96 bronco w/351 I was going to replace mine only to find that ford put a funky lookin relocation setup on it because of the intake. The valve I got for it didnt look like it would fit into the end of the tube coming from the valve cover. Am I getting the wrong valve (from AZ) or do I have to pull my intake and replace the whole thing with a part from ford. This setup also doesnt seem to fit snug to the valve cover either. Can anyone help on this issue.

yo Dutch,
In our 96's Owner's Guide (prev called the owners manual) there is a statement in it that Ford will replace the PCV valve for free at 60 k miles. We did get it done for free at that mileage.

96xl; it is in the Maintenance Schedule Booklet on page 4. It may be also in Owner's Guide but It's buried in the Bronco now.
anyway here is the 96's Maint Sched on-line by Ford:
https://web.msslib.dealerconnection....000c5880007e5c

"No Cost PCV Valve Replacement
THE PCV VALVE IS A CRITICAL EMISSION
COMPONENT. YOUR DEALER WILL
REPLACE THE VALVE AT NO COST AT
60,000 MILES/96,000 KILOMETERS (EXCEPT
CANADA AND CALIFORNIA VEHICLES)."

page 4

Dutch,
It seems that the Ford Racing 9mm wires are cheaper 9Incl. the new stand-offs) than the oem MC stuff. Has "better" insulation as well.
Kevin has info on it here:
Ford Racing 9mm

Hey Dutch I just got a set of the ford 9mm wires I love them. Just dont forget to get new looms for them. Now I've just got to get me a hotter coil to make em worth having bought. Hmmm While Im here, anybody reading this have suggestion for a coil on a 96 351.

Hey,
Thanks AlM, you said Kevin has some infor. on the 9mm Ford Racing wires. Was that a link you gave ? Who is Kevin, sorry.. confused?

Ok I may have many posts which doesn't mean squat but I don't know what "looms" are? I bought Borg Warner wires but it sounds like the 9mm Ford Racing may be better for my 351W 5.8L w/headers because of the heat issues.

DIY? I've never changed plugs/wires/cap/rotor and fuel filter and am thinking of doing it. . The plug gapping has me a little spooked.
Any suggestions?

dutch,
Sorry...Kevin's page is here:
http://kevin-long.tripod.com/plugwires.html
The looms are the wire holders (stand-offs; wire dividers, etc.);
http://store.summitracing.com/produc...earchtype=ecat

Gapping is relatively ez with this info (and it also shows a few more tricks such as using an old plug wire with boot to hand thread a new plug in (which is a bear on the rear plugs!!)), but I use a piece of vacuum hose to do it:

http://www.e-toolbox.com/application...PARK_PLUGS.htm

Usually, some stores give away plug gauges (to gap) for free as an ad; the tool to gap it is merely a piece of metal with a slot cut in it. Maybe the local store will gap em to the specs for free?
Look it up here after entering yr, model and engine type; click on Specifications @ top of page.

Gap should be 0.044

The filter is another story; I forget what yearr you have so look in my web site under Technical; Fuel for info. If you have alte model then you'll need the fitting tool as well as other stuff.
