Hi I need your help, I'm rebuilding my Engine a 351W 5.8L 1994 Ford Bronco, and I want to swamp the camshaft for something a little more powerfull, but I can't find a camshaft, I want a roller tappet something between 1000-5000 RPM or 5500, because 2000 it is a little high.
No. That is a retrofit cam which is ground on a smaller core, a '94 5.8 motor had a roller cam from the factory so it doesn't need a retrofit cam, and that grind is not EFI friendly.
So I too want to beef up my Bronco with a Cam. I have a 93 with a 351 also. Is mine also a roller? Through my research I have found conflicting information. Any easy ways to tell if my motor is a roller?
up near your starter on the side of the block you want to see the F4TE stamped. this would indicate roller cam block. now all my research has said 94 was the first year the 5.8 got the roller cam. I have heard some 93 5.8 motors were F4TE blocks but did not have the hardware to run a roller cam. to be sure you have/dont have you would also need to pull your lower intake. if you have Dog Bones then you are roller cam. no dog bones and your flat tappet.
Conaski, The 35-349-8 cam uses the same firing order and the 351W, correct? I posted a similar thread on the small block forum before about cam selection before I found this thread.
