My truck's original owners manual

I was wondering if anyone else had their original owners manual. My truck had it in the glovebox when I got it and I'm curious about one thing I found inside it. Pretend to open your owners manual, this is where you pretend you have a book and do as I say. You open the manual (flips cover open with left hand) and on the back of the front cover in your left hand there's information printed on the back of it near the edge. I don't know if it's something that the dealer had printed on it or if the original owner typed it on there with a typewriter, but it looks nice and neat. It has the guy's name, address, the trucks vin, and various other info. A lot of it is stuff that's on the ID plate, but there's also other info like the in service date (10/8/76). It has the district code, which is on the ID plate, for Portland Oregon, but it also has what I'm assuming is the code for the specific dealership it was purchased at which started with 74(portland) and then had a letter followed by three numbers. I never paid much attention to it, because I initially thought it was the dealerships info like maybe Ford sent a bunch of manuals to the dealership and that's how they were ID'd for each vehicle. I googled the name and address and I got a few hits and they showed that the guy living at that address would be in his 80's now, which sounds quite possible if he bought this truck in his 40's. I dunno, I thought it was interesting.

Interesting for sure. I have the owners manuals for both my 78 F150 and my 78 Bronco, but neither of those have that type of info typed into them.

Yeah, it has the code for the ignition key. I don't know if there's a code that identifies the exact build of the 302 that came in it, but it lists a lengthy "Motor code". I'll have to take a picture when I get home.

That would be awesome. But I suggest that you cover up any and all personal info. about the original owner. Such as his name and address.

Hah, if I was the OP, I'd send the original owner some pics of the truck, and let him know that it is now my pride and joy - if he's still alive...
