Score!!!

Look at this beautiful cluster. Everything works as it should. I also have some other accessories that go with it.

Very nice looking setup there. Judging by the font on the guages, that's a cluster from a '67-'69 model truck. In '70, the font changed.

'67-'69 cluster on top, '70-'72 cluster on bottom. The same '70-'72 font continued on through the '73-'79 big truck clusters but, the face of the clusters was painted in black and the perimeters and the raised portions around the gauges was polished.

Was the cluster bezel dressed like that when you got it or did you clean it up and paint it?

I've had 12 of these clusters with the latest two I just picked up a couple of weeks ago.

Here's an example of a Dentside big truck cluster with the black and polished face. --notice the wiper switch is on the bezel and not the dash.

Steve, do you know what the second, unused switch position that's under the wiper/washer switch is for?

This is the way it came to me. Here's a couple more pictures. I might disassemble it and repaint it. For a fresh look. The cables came with it. Normally you can't find these cables. A real score indeed.

On the Bumpside clusters I've seen/possessed, the switch was usually tied to the marker lights. There are three possible switch provisions to the left of the Bumpside clusters. I don't know what might have been intended to be installed in the two other locations there.

I've never seen another switch in the second location on the Dentside clusters so, I'm uncertain of what optional switch (and for what) might have been located there.

Interesting that it was chrome with an Argent face. I suspect that cluster probably came out of something like a big truck with a Custom Cab option. A plain Jane base model F500-up big truck cluster would have been painted white through '72.

I'm not to sure about that. I wondered why Ford would have used the basic 15B590 for 4 way flashers instead of 13A350. So I looked it up. For the Bumpside F500 and bigger body style trucks Ford listed it as:

15B590 Switch and Wiring Assembly - Utility lamp.

68/72 F500/750........Used with back-up lamps.

Dueling parts guys.

I looked at the 15B590 header in bold black print .. failed to look at the applications. (sigh)

Just a case of "close but not quite". Like horseshoes, hand grenades, and fast women.
The very next page (page 22) shows what I posted.

I've scavenged a few of those over the years and they always brought good money on ebay. Nice score on that one.
We used to discuss them on Fordification and the swirling mass of subtleties of the different years, models and variations has all but escaped me now.
