Body Trim Removal

I have a 1981 F250 with the 'Custom' trim level. How do I remove the trim around the wheel arches on the front (or rear: they appear to be the same) fenders?

I don't have those wheel opening trim pieces -so I'm not a 100% sure - but I think there are screws that go up from the inside of the fender lip that hold those chrome pieces on. Did you take a close look?

Mike: Thanks for the reply. They appear to be a 'snap-on' type, but I was just wondering if there was any special trick to popping them off.

If they are the type the trim the very edge of the wheel opening, then they are fastened with screws to the lip of the fender. If they are the type of wheel arch molding that is slightly above the opening and mate with a lower aluminum trim that runs the length of the vehicle, then it is held on with clips AND two or three (four?) threaded fasteners that go through the fender and have a nut on the back. Check which type of trim you have and be gentle. Don't force anything, that aluminum trim is easy to mark up, crease, bend etc.,

If you are talking of this type, body side moldings

I don't know just yet on the rear as I have not gotten around to pulling them off yet.
The front fender ones are a PITA and IIRC I had to pull the fender off to get to some of the fasteners as some had nuts on them.

The other that are right on the edge of the wheel opening are called wheel opening moldings and have screws on the inner face. Before trying to undo the screws take the screw driver and place it on a screw and give it a few hits with a hammer and most of the time come right.

That's my parts truck, bought it less doors (I needed the door panels), tail gate, 300 motor & radio for $400
I bought it mostly for the interior as my project truck seat was beyond shot and someone painted everything else first blue then black.

Project was non-AC so all the AC parts came over, the nose was better on the parts truck and used the duel tanks on my flare side along with other odds & ends.
I have also given some stuff away I know I will not use as other have to me - play it forward.

I don't know how it happened (did not ask) but dont think the guy got hurt. He only had it a short time before putting it in a ditch he said.

Sorry to say no as it had no doors and I think they were crank type as there was no wiring going into the doors or I am sure the hacks would have cut it to get the doors off.

Heck they could not figure out how to get the radio out so they broke part of the dash frame and I have to fix it as it is AC and I need it.
