Ford 5th wheel hitch

I have just taken possession of my brand new 2017 F350 and Ford is going to send me a good will credit of $750. I was wondering if I should buy the Ford 5th wheel hitch. While it will not pay for it completely, I would pay the balance. Is it any good or garbage? Appears to be similar to the Reese Elite. Any advice would be appreciated. I can always buy other things with it but this was my first thought. Thanks.

Take the money and buy a B&W companion. If 20k lbs is enough.

Is the Reese Elite.
When I had a problem with my hitch, when I first got it, I dealt directly with Reese. Their engineer was good to work with. They replaced the head by UPS.
Have not head any issues with the Reese set-up.

I have to spend the money at Ford. I can decide what to buy there and thought I would put it toward something I have to buy rather than buy things I don't need. But don't want to buy this hitch if it is not any good. What is B & W? Another question is what does Ford have that is worth buying for my truck? Any advice?

The Reese Elite (Ford Hitch) is a good product. The B&W hitch for the Ford prep is great too but no better. See if you can get the price down on the Ford hitch you want and go for it. Just don't pay too much. You can get them used on craigslist for about $500 or so.

I have Reese as well. It is good.

But I have in mind to get the Anderson Ultimate eventually. Much easier to store away when not in use.

You could have the Ford dealer order the Reese Elite, the B&W Companion or the Andersen Ultimate for you if buying from the dealer is the stipulation. If it has to be a Ford product, get the Ford branded Elite. As stated, it is a good hitch.
A friend always gets his hitch via his dealer for financing, and business tax write off reasons.

Stock up on filters and oil. Even a few doo-dads that you want and don't need.

I bought a Reese/Ford hitch from the dealer at their cost. They had no problem with doing the deal and I saved $300 on a very nice hitch that works perfectly with the 5th wheel prep package. They received the hitch next day and loaded the crate in my truck. The hitch is covered under the vehicle warranty and would be replaced if any issues develop. They dealer does not repair hitches.

Not sure what load rating you need on the hitch you are buying, but as an example, the Ford branded Reese 18K hitch can be had for $843.00 at Tousley Ford

That's a 23% discount off of Ford's MSRP. Looks like a couple of additional part#'s are required, but the cost isn't much more than good will money they are giving you.

I bought my like new 18k Reese Elite for $450 off of craigslist. The seller had bought a house in Florida and sold his high dollar Mobile Suites fifth wheel and traded his F350 for a 150. The dealer told him to do what he wanted with the hitch since they weren't going to give him anything extra for it....

I have the 25K Ford/Reese Elite. Works well.

If you don't do the hitch, I have the bed divider which hooks into the boxlinks. Handy for groceries, etc out at the end.

did you buy a short bed if so the hitch will not allow you to make tight turns
