Where does the Motorcraft FL1995 fit in the picture? I thought that was the standard with the 7.3?

That's what I've been running since day one. Honestly, not sure how it compares.

I assume the FL1995 is just the standard 50 micron filter, and the LF9691 has the standard 50 micron filter in the top, and a second "bypass" 2-5 micron filter in the bottom. I have yet to cut the LF9691 open tho, so it's just a guess

EDIT: found this from a "other site"

"The LF9691 as it is a venturi combo filter which has full flow and bypass filtering in one unit. The full flow section is some type of synthetic filtering media while the bypass section is stacked discs. Fleetguard claims that this style of filter also allows for lower restriction to flow when you're starting your vehicle in the cold. The lf3374 is cheaper as it simply contains synthetic media without the bypass filtration. I called fleetguard once and got the ratings of both filters. The lf9691 is rated at like 98% 30 micron and 60% 10 micron while the lf3374 is rated at 98% 30 micron and 73% 10 micron. I don't really understand where the extra 13% efficiency comes from but that's what they claim. I prefer the 9691 because of the lower restriction to cold oil since I don't have a oil heater like my block heater to heat my engine oil when it's cold. If you check out http://www.fleetguard.com they have links about different filters and things there."

Here in the south we don't see -37 so the 15-40 is good enough. My Buick takes a 5-30 but I don't want to run that weight in my truck. May not hurt it but the engineers put it the manual for some reason.

Might have to try some of the 15w40 synthetic for my next oil change to see how it does. Hopefully the synthetic doesn't cause any major leaks though lol

I’m going to freezer test the pour point...if it passes...sticking with 15w40.

my truck sounds like a rattling tool box on 5w40 until it reaches operating temps.

Anybody able to find a detailed breakdown between their agra supreme 15/40 vs the fleet 5/40 or 15/40 on road formula? All three are full synthetic but it looks like their agra guard carries a bit more moly, zinc, and boron from what I found on the net.

I'm the idiot that figured their agra would have a bit more to it than the fleet oils, considering one is on road and the other is for off road use as a CJ4 meeting Ford's WSS M2C171-E as a full synthetic....

There is about 35 gallons out there pumping through 7 of our fleet trucks from pickup 7.3s, 5 ton t444es, a few deutz, a big cat motor, 466DT, and 530 DT... curious what the results show when they are changed.... All ran with Donaldson 10 micron "Big Blues"

So what is the verdict on Triax? I have been running Delo 15/40 for years and need to switch over to something that is approved. I have thought about going to Rotella T6, but curious on the how the Triax is doing, thanks.

Nik,
i actually asked Triax this, here's their response:

New message from: triaxlubricants (479)

Hello John,

The Agra line uses a different base oil from what im told, with different viscosity improvers to make it even more shear stable for high load, low speed applications. It should have the same moly / boron as the rest of the fleet supreme.

Regards,
Angela

I was getting ready to order some and unless I am missing something they are not selling the 5W40 in 5 gallon buckets anymore. I only saw 2.5 gallon containers or a case of 12 quarts.
