Aftermarket wheel and center cap help!
Hey all, having some trouble finding a solid answer on aftermarket wheels that we have been looking at online for our 01 Excursion (Limited 4x4 V10). Wanting to go with a 285/70R17 tire and need wheels to suit these. After searching a lot and selecting a few wheels we like on TireRack- the notes pop up that the center caps for the wheels will not fit the front or rear hubs (rear axle center??). This was for Dick Cepek wheels and Method wheels.
Obviously lots of guys run aftermarket wheels on these and I haven't seen or heard of a center cap problem- but hate to drop a chunk of $$ on a tire/wheel package and then I find out something won't work! I have no problem modifying what they come with if there is something that works for these and by no means are we biased to the wheel brands noted above, just what we first selected and then the warning about center caps not fitting popped up.
Any help or suggestions much appreciated!

I've been looking at wheels myself - I have 35's on 16" rims and I want to move to an 18" just for better road manners that less sidewall provides.
I can't find information about how the front hub caps deal with the auto/lock dial on the front hubs of our trucks. The wheels I current have are open on the front to allow for switching the hubs, but closed on the rear.
Any experience others have had buying aftermarket wheels with these considerations would be super helpful!

I have the Method Fat Five 17" x 8.5", they came with closed caps that fit the rear but the fronts wouldn't work. The place I got the wheels and tires from has the same ones except a year older that came with a removable center that he gave me that fits the wheel.

Most of the aftermarket rims will not have a front center cap to fit the 4x4 hub. What I did with my first Ex, I bought Moto rims and was able to buy a spacer that allowed me to fit the center caps. I also purchased longer bolts to go thru the center cap and spacer that connected to the rim.
