Water in exaust

Could someone please tell me why water is coming out of my exaust. Doesn't sound good to me, but curious what could be causing it. I've put Heet in the fuel and ran it about 20 miles. Water seems to be coming out no matter which tank I'm using. appreciate it, E P

How much water, just drops? It is just condensation and moisture in the exhaust. Do you have an aftermarket exhaust? Stock exhausts have a pinhole in the muffler to let the water drip out but some aftermarkets don't. If it is stock, then the hole could be plugged up somehow.

Water blowing out the exhaust, especially after a cold start is normal. You should get quite a few drops at first until the whole exhaust system is warmed up, probably 30 minutes. Even a drop or two after warm up is normal.

This is not a problem unless you do a lot of short runs. then water gathers in the exhaust and never gets a chance to cook dry. So the water causes rust. I have seen guys who put only 30,000 miles on their car over 10 years, have horribly rusted exhausts even though the car was taken care of religiously. They just never got things warmed up enough.

If your state has a smog test, a lot of them will do a test for free if your license is due for renewal, and the prinout will tell you whether the exhaust is normal.

Good Luck,

This Heet product is what a gas line anti freeze ? Was the water / condensation problem present before you added the Heet ? That stuff is designed to absorb moisture .... Use it & its likely you will see more condensation from the exhaust when the engine is cold .

The heet will absorb the water in the tank and allow it to "burn" but it shouldn't make a big difference. the wwater you see is most likely just normal condensation in the exhaust.

Is your coolant level dropping? If the exhaust has a sweet smell to it it could be coolant leaking into the com.bustion chambers via a crack or blown head gasket
