1995 F-250 7.3L - New to Group

Hello,

I wanted to introduce myself to the group. I like turning a wrench and I'm still learning about the 1995 F-250 7.3L that I recently picked up. She has some wear on her, 280K with a 5 speed manual. The was rebuilt at some point.

I have noob question. I realize that the owners manual from 1995 lists the type of fluids recommended to maintain the vehicle. 22 years later, do you guys recommend other fluids?

Engine Oil - Shell ROTELLA T5 (Synthetic Blend) 15W-40 with 1 quart of Lucas
Oil Filter - Ford Motorcraft
Fuel Filter - Ford Motorcraft
Air Filter - Ford Motorcraft
Manual Transmission - MERCON 5 / Mobil 1 ATF (Synthetic)
Clutch Fluid - Open to suggestions
Rear End - Ford Friction Modifier & 0w-140 gear oil
* No Gasket on rear end, use Motorcraft GRAY silicone
Brakes Fluid - Open to suggestions
Power Steering Fluild - MERCON 5 / Mobil 1 ATF (Synthetic)
Coolant - Open to suggestions

What did I miss? What do you recommend?

Looking forward to being part of the community!

welcome first off!

Second, leave the additive out of the oil . the high pressure oil system won't like that and its just not needed. Coolant, search fleet charge with sca.

Jarrett Campbell is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
Make sure you get the SCA additive for the coolant. From what I have seen, it takes 3 bottles of additive to get the SCAs up where they need to be.

Whoops, 67 beat me to it.

Have fun with the new truck!

FleetCharge anti-freeze is pre-charged with SCA, as 67 said. But be careful, the labeling on the full-strength vs. 50/50 diluted is VERY similar. Buying 50/50 is just an expensive way of buying distilled water.

Clutch and brake fluid, DOT 3 is fine. But I sure wouldn't touch the clutch hydraulics if they're working. You're opening up a can of potential pain, bleeding the system.

4x4 or 2WD? Are you sure the rear diff is LS?

Oh, and yeah, welcome. What was rebuilt?

The F-250 is a 2WD with a 5 speed manual

The engine was rebuilt prior to my ownership, it runs really well.

Thanks for all the advice, I have purchased the proper coolant now!
