Here are some links to a diagram of the location on the engine and directions on how to change it:

what exactly does the cam sensor do? i have checked out all the connections to it and the are reading the proper voltages/ohms. the truck seems to hesitate while under constant pedal. could this be somethign else other than the cam sensor, could it be the tranny slipping? i have also had the truck stall out on me while sitting at a red light. turn the key and it will fire right back up. is this another sign of the cam sensor?

when you go to change the cam sensor use a six point socket deep well 10mm. i just changed it on my truck and man what a difference!!!!!! when you go to buy it try and find an international dealer near you. i called autopart stores, ford dealers, and the international dealer was the cheapest by far. here in michigan i only paid 98.00 for the sensor at the international dealership, whereas every else was anywhere from 145.00 to 250.00. good luck. p.s. it only took me about 15 min to change the sensor, that included removing the serpentine belt and putting it back on.

I finally got my cam pos. sensor installed and it made a big difference. no more sputtering, lower idle rpm's (600) smoother earlier shifting. although I had one problem. With a deep socket I aouldn't get a straight angel on the 10 mm bolt, and ended up rounding the bolt, so I had to bring it to the guy down the street to take off the fan and fan clutch and shroud so he could get a fluted socket on the rounded head and remove it. By the way, it cost $89 from international, Ford wanted $215. Thanks again
