Blew another tire out...do quality tires exist anymore?

When I was still deciding which way to go with my TT's tire upgrades the only drawbacks that I saw were the cost and the fact that LT tires of the same size will have a lower weight rating vs ST tires. It's my belief that the weight ratings are due to the STs not having as much (or any) reserve capacity like the LT or P rated tires as the trailer tires don't carry live loads like the others, this lower threshold on the STs also opens the door for the ultra cheap China Bombs that are so common.

Put 350 miles on the camper this weekend with the new tires (Goodyear Assurance) and there's a big improvement in the way it tows, seems much more stable than before. I went from load range D to a 10-ply E so that may be a big part of it. Some advice when buying tires, ask for a date matched set and have them balanced. My tires were practically still warm with a 2617 build date.

This is interesting - I am running "China bomb" tires - and so far have had zero issues.
The brand is LingLong - they seem well built, and we've put probably 10K+ miles on them this year. They were new when we got the trailer....
I also keep up with inflation, and don't inflate them to max sidewall pressure - they are rated 110, and i run about 106PSI...no issues at 70-75mph either.

I`m late to this post, but I have a 24 foot Wells Cargo race car trailer, that weights between 8500-9000 lbs loaded, depending on how much stuff I bring with me. When new, it came with Goodyear Marathon 8 ply ST tires (load range D), the guy I bought the trailer from had put 4 Gladiators (Chinese made) ST tires on it acouple of years before I bought the trailer in 2014. The tires looked like new when I bought the trailer, but I had one blowout on me in 2016. (Disintegrated is more like it!) Naturally this happened 200 miles from home. My only spare tire was the unused, but 15 years old) Marathon that came with the trailer. I made it home OK, and then started researching trailer tires. Many different opinions out there! Some people said to ditch the ST tires, and use LTs. Other said to convert to 16" wheels and 235/85R16 tires, which was not an option, as there is not enough room between the axles , or top of the fenders for such a tall tire. As far as brands of ST tires go, the Maxxis seemed to have the best reviews, so I bought 4 new 225/75ST15 10 plys. So far, so good. As somebody else mentioned, during my resarch, I was suprised to find that most ST tires are indeed rated to only 65 MPH. I had been travelling at 75-80 MPH with the trailer empty for a stretch before my blow out at 70 mph with the car in the trailer a few hours later. Since then, I have learned to set the cruise control at 62-63 MPH, and enjoy the drive. By the way, a buddy bought a new Pace Shadow Daytona car trailer in 2005, which came from the factory with the Maxxis tires, he just replaced the original tires last year, after he noticed a bulge in the sidewall, but they were still intact, and held air just fine. He replaced them with 4 more new Maxxis STs.
