I don't think he was saying the '16s were better. I think he was saying that he wanted to wait a few years while all the bugs got worked out. Now that we haven't seen very many problems with the '17s coupled with the difficulty of tire options and shops being unwilling to give maintenance on the 19.5" tires were the main deciding factors. Then when his trade in value wasn't much less than what he bought the truck for that sealed the deal.

Seemed like the headlights too were an issue for him. After finding the channel on utube, I may have binged watched some of his videos, and it sounds like he was driving a euro car prior to buying a truck. I'm sure he got used to HID type lights. Once you go HID/LED it's very difficult to drive with regular halogen. You feel like your shooting week streams of yellow out the front of the truck. I know a quick change I made to my 16 was to add some LEDs.
Great videos too, thank you posting the info.

I got the "Autolizer" LED kits from Amazon, 6k temp. They had 80 and 60 watt options, I tried the 80, to be honest I thought there were a little bright and the pattern didn't seem to spread as well, so I opted for just the 60 and they look great. I did both main and driving lights to match.
The pattern with the shorter 60 watt is very nice, and the 6k is a clear white light, just a tinge of blue. The 80 was a longer bulb, and just didn't fit as well, plus the light didn't spread and seemed much brighter just right in front without putting as much light to the sides. I'm not an expert on light pattern spread, so I made markings in a field and to a fence where my old lights hit vs the new, and then of course what is looks like when you are the oncoming car facing the lights. They are a great improvement without being blinding to other cars.
I was trying to find the link on amazon, but I can only find the 80 watt versions, I checked "my orders" and the type I bought are listed as unavailable, phooey.
