i guess this is just an intro to my 57 F500. The back story is kind of interesting so I thought I would share.
Ive been with my wife since we were in high school. I've always worked for my father in law since we were together at the family business; a carnival. That's a whole other set of stories! He owns a small collection of old trucks that were used for the business. Most noteably a pair of consecutive serial numbered 37 ford 1.5 ton trucks, a pair of matched 58 F500s, a 38 ford 1.5 ton, a few old chevy/gmc's also. I've always asked to buy one of his trucks so I could drive around town in the spring after the salt was off the road and in the fall until just before they salted. Never would sell me anything... I asked to let me use one and he can still own it, I'd maintain it and he could have it back whenever he wanted. (He doesn't drive them . They go from winter storage to summer storage.) no go on that too. So this last spring I was cruising craigslist for an old truck to putt around town in and I saw a listing with a terrible picture of what appears to be an old ford that was once one of my father in laws. I showed my wife and she said, "Buy it!" She didn't have to tell me twice! Called the guy and he confirmed that he bought it from Chester Krouse. The Krouse from Iola Car show. Guy was loaded! RIP. I asked my uncle in law if he remembered the truck and sure enough it was one of theirs that they sold to old Chet. Their dad had bought it brand new. I snatched it up and had it delivered since I was quite busy in the spring getting our stuff ready to hit the road. Two days later my FIL come crashing into the shop yelling "where they Hell did that truck come from! I though I got rid of it!!" I told him I bought it and not to worry; I'll be driving it by the end of the week so it wouldn't be in the way. I rebuilt the carb and bled the brakes and drove it by the end of the week. The shop is at his house so he gets to see me come to work every day in the spring and fall now in a truck he got rid of and couldn't keep me from getting one of his old trucks no matter how hard he tried! Lol. It has a bit under 29000 original miles and has never seen a winter road.

Sadly I had to buy the beer. The whole bed was made by my wife's grandfather for the carnival business. That box originally held smaller parts. There is one on the drivers side that is shorter and goes all the way across to the passenger side frame rail. Not sure if I'll keep the whole bed or modify it or completely make a new one...
