The smiley face should give a pretty clear indication that I'm not too serious. I've held out my own flame for manual transmissions in the past and that didn't work out all that well either...

The Ranger needs to slot in below the F150 so I'm guessing 2.3 Ecoboost four. The Big 3 stopped building compact/mid sized pickups because it was frankly not much more expensive for them to build a big one (and they could charge more money for them because Americans are used to buying cars "by the pound"). It's gonna be a tricky balance to not cannibalize F150 sales.

I've been looking at new/used Expeditions but am really waiting for the Bronco (which is why I'm also watching the Ranger). This would be a good opportunity for me to get a super clean 2014 5.4 Expy if I really wanted a V8, but I actually lean toward a 2015+ Ecoboost model for better gas mileage and avoiding cam phaser problems, etc. But Expys are just too big. My choice for a Bronco would be the 2.7 EB engine but we shall see what is offered.

A couple months back I had a '17 Screw with the 2.5, then I had a '16 Scab, 8' bed with the 3.5, back to back. I have to say, both would likely get me off the line, but I'm pretty sure I'd have them in the end. They both had 3:73 gears, and completely stock of course. I've 3:55 and 35 tires, but not stock.
I liked them both, I really did. When I took the '16 back, I made the comment that if I was an olde guy, I'd likely buy one of them. The guys got a laugh out of that, I'm 66.
My wife keeps at me about when I'm going to grow up, she's only known me for 49 years.
Those two trucks changed my mind about the performance, I was really impressed.
I keep looking at my 3slow Ranger and just want to ask it what it's problem is!

Well heck, I'm just a 65 year old kid who plays rock and roll guitar and rides a bicycle...as prez of a big bicycle club, it's part of my job description that I can't grow up.

I did drive an Edge Sport with the 2.7 EB and that was really nice but not quite tough enough. Part of me wants to find a minty 3.5 EB Explorer Police Interceptor (or a new one if I can find a semi-legal way to buy one). I'm an old hotrodder and like my sleepers.

I did take out my old BMW 318is for a while tonight. Garage queen, fun to drive a stick. More fun to drive a slow car fast than it is to drive a fast car slow.

Back to waiting for the Ranger and Bronco to show up. I know a lot of Big 3 engineers but nobody on those projects.

edit--if you want a little pickup with a V8, get an Explorer Sport Trac with the 3 valve 4.6...although it's not much of a pickup, the engine is pretty cool...one of the guys who works with our contractor drives one and it's pretty gutsy. (Likewise, I would like to find a near-new 2010 Explorer with that engine especially if the Bronco doesn't work for me.)

Well, I'm a rocker as well, can't play guitar, and have a bicycle, at least I did the last time I looked in the shed. LOL
Are you with a band down there? My wife and I originally came from Monroe.
BMW, I like 'em, I also like Porsches.

I think I'd still like a Coyote in a Ranger, but yeah, likely won't happen. I tend to like sleepers as well, and a Ranger or Bronco, could be in my future, but I'd have to change my thought patterns a bit.
Agree on that Police Interceptor. We've got at least one running around up here, I saw it at the dealer in Alpena, before it was even released. From what I understand, that thing screams.
I did talk to a Westland cop a couple weeks ago that had one, he really liked it.

They even put 289's in them, with a 4 speed. There were pretty cool, basically a Mustang with a different body.

You are correct.

If you were hoping for an Eddie Bauer edition, I think you will be out of luck.

There is definately a diesel version. The company a friend works for makes(or will be, no actual production has started) parts for the new Ranger and there are "gas" and "diesel" versions of one of the parts.

The 2018 F150 has 5 engine choices , I don’t think the Ranger will have only 1. Ford loves the profit of premium trim levels and a premium engine upgrade.

The 2.3L I4 EB w/ the 10 speed auto with 4wd, crew cab, XLT trim is exactly the truck I was hoping for.
I'm sure we will see a 2.7 EB V6 in a Ranger Raptor eventually... I'll be paying close attention in September/October 2018!

Production of components doesn't start until December from what I have heard. So maybe look in late January.
