Fan won't break loose! Changing water pump

2009 f150 5.4. Replacing water pump and I can't get the fan to break loose. I've broken 2 belt wrenches. I've just sprayed liquid wrench on it . Any tricks or suggestions much appreciated

Not to sound condescending In any way, but are you turning it the correct way?

With a serpentine drive they are almost always a left hand thread.

Aside from that, heat and a strong will not to be defeated is about all you have.

There are much better penetrating oils available than liquid wrench as well.

Seafoam deep creep
PB blaster
Schaffer's Penetrol 90

Are a few that work very well.

Check your local auto parts store to see if they rent out a fan wrench kit. Also, the threads are not reversed, they are right-hand so you turn the big fan nut counterclockwise.

If there is room for an air gun, use that.

If not, I typically use a long "cheater bar" also known as a breaker bar. I'm talking 2-3 feet long. Those nuts are not easy to get off.

Obviously the hard part is finding something to wedge in there so the fan won't turn as you're applying torque.

Not really, I just made sure to look it up before I told him that.

The nut will always un-screw in the direction of fan rotation. Usually a long chisel or punch right on the corner of the nut, and a good sharp crack with a 2 pound hammer will get them loose.
