Pad under vinyl floor. Is it cleanable?

I recently bought a 1992 F-250, formerly the home of what seems to be quite a few mice. I have pulled out the seats, and hosed down the cloth one with dish soap, pet and allergen remover, and a lot of water. It is getting better, but I am thinking of giving it a final dousing with peroxide or vinegar. So I checked the inside, because there is still a bad smell, and there are mouse droppings under the pad under the vinyl flooring. Is there a way to clean the pad? If no, what would happen if I take it out entirely? I read more engine noise, and heat. Could I put down blankets or something to solve that? Thanks!

No. Now what?

Okay, pulled some of it up to see if I could get it out of the truck and it had rotted. I don't think vinyl is supposed to pull apart like that either. So, that went in the trash. Is there a way to get a cheap replacement for something like this? Is it a necessity? If so, would cardboard work until I figure out where to order something?

Check the junk yard for one in better shape and replace the entire mat. The later trucks had a black mat which I think looks better than a colored one

x2.
I think I would just go with nothing there rather than cardboard, it would be a paper mache mess (at least where I live) before long. also, my guess is that the factory pad is likely fire-resistant ... hot exhaust and the potential for electrical shorts.

Thanks

I will see how noisy it is once I put the seats back in and drive it. If it is a problem I will put down some car mats until I can replace the floor. Thank you!
