Help A NOOB! Looking to buy a farm truck
Hi folks –
I've dug around this community a fair bit these past few days and I'm already grateful for the help it's offered.
Here's my situation, I'm packing up from the city and moving to an acreage in BC. I'm looking at 8th generation Fords and have 2 to see.
I'm hoping the community can help me see the potential trouble-spots or pitfalls of 2 trucks I'm set to go see this week. I have very limited mechanical know how so I'm looking for trucks that are in ready to roll condition that'll give me some time to ease into a desire to learn all about them.
1. 1990 F 250 w/ 5.0L windsor, 4 speed AOD, 4wd w/ manual hubs, 4:10 gears just 73k (KMS) https://abbotsford.craigslist.ca/cto...175410734.html
2. 1989 F250 Lariat XLT Regular cab Long box (8') 460 CI V8 paired to a C6 Automatic transmission 105,000 Miles (approx 160,000 km) https://whistler.craigslist.ca/cto/d...228875875.html
Cheers!

for any potential grunt work, it's better to have too much truck, than not enough. for that reason, plus the lower asking price, i am leaning towards the 460 (find out what rear end is in it though). if it is ready to tow, all the better (i dont see a trailer hitch on the 5.0).
with gas prices in b.c. being what they are, the 460 is often a hard sell, giving you some room to negotiate on price.
