Dipstick tube adapter flange leak - again!

I think this might be the first time I disagree with you Joe, but in my opinion, that's what the US Patent office is for, if a product can qualify for that protection.
If it doesn't qualify, or if the designer decides not to pursue that protection, then capitalism reigns. The open market has produced countless mousetraps that all do the same thing.

Its just BS. Come up with something on your own...

Off Topic ALERT: I can see both points of view. Although, if Sinister feels there is a patent infringement on the piece, then they should take legal action and go from there. If there is no patent, then the product is fair game to be copied. I would not copy a product and sell it as my own, but if everyone was like me the world would be a completely different place.
As Stewart said, there are many types of mouse traps, just a little different in their own way. Different enough to get by the legal restrictions, and that is the free market and making the best product for the best price available to the public that want to buy it.
I am not brand loyal, I am product loyal. I will pay more if the product I am buying is genuinely better.

I think everyone is looking to get "fair value" for their money. A flange for THREE HUNDRED dollars?
Production costs maybe $50? Billeted maybe a tad more? Development costs...those are born by the believer, with the hopes of recouping his time investment from future sales.
It's not a spec product. It isn't under extreme temps, tolerances, or pressures. It isn't a high wear item.
IMHO, if someone wants buyers to flock to them, offer a FAIR price for a good product and you'll develop loyalty. Attempting to squeeze every dime out of customers "because they don't have any other options" only works until there is another option. Which many times buyers will use the new option if they feel they weren't treated fairly and with respect as getting good value at a fair price.
I see this with our "favored vendors" here as well. Some of the prices have doubled and continue to climb with no end in sight..."just because we can"
You can't take advantage of your customers and then expect loyalty in return. You can take the lead and get your money up front, as much as you can squeeze, and then get out as other options are offered, or you can build long term loyalties from "captive customers" (us!) who will continue to buy just about everything from you and not bother shopping around.

EBay adapter
Hey guys, that eBay link for the cheaper alternative to strictly diesels dipstick repair kit is dead. Anyone know where else to find it, or the original seller? I'm leaking but can't afford 300 usd for the kit. It sounds like the copy cat was 100 bucks?? Any info would be awesome. The weld in adapter may be worthwhile too for me.

I have seen some people have success with Bob's kit linked below.

I have no idea what that kit consists of, but if you clean it well and smear on some RightStuff it won't leak. Might not be the 'right' way, but it'll stop leaking with very little time & money invested.

You can replace the O ring without removing the pan, just make sure you get some locking needle nose pliers to hold the flange ( you will have to remove the dip stick tube and hold it from the hole with the needle nose pliers) and if the nut is warped get a new one before attemping the fix.
