What kind of MPG to expect from 4.6 3v or 5.0?
Might be getting a new job and also need to replace my vehicle soon. I really want to stick to a truck, but might have to go to a midsize SUV to get a little better gas mileage since I'd be driving farther. What kind of mpg can I expect on mixed driving? Right now I'm getting around 13.3 with the 6.0 in my Yukon XL Denali with AWD.
Thanks for the info!

5.0, 4x4, 3.55's driving in New England (not exactly flat land though not super mountainous). I am averaging around 14-16 mixed. I should note, I have a heavy foot. There are also a few places I need to accelerate onto a highway from a dead stop (no merge area) and I see near WOT at least once a day. I am also not beyond kicking the throttle to force a downshift and pass a left-lane hog.
Highway driving at 75-80 with the windows up I can get 17-18. If I slow it down to 55-60, I can get 19-21 though I've only done that once.
I've heard of others getting much better, though I am fine with what my window sticker says. It's really all in the throttle foot and what you can tolerate for slow-speed on the highway. I am not one of those people unfortunately.
Hope this helps

The estimated MPG on my window sticker (4.6 3v) is probably pretty accurate. 14mpg city, 20mpg hwy. I used to get 21 on the highway, but when I replaced tires with a little more aggressive tread, it dropped to around 20. I probably do get slightly better on the city driving, maybe close to 16. All city driving is not the same, depends on whether it's "city" or "suburb".
