Exclamation 1994 F150 300 CID LPG won't start first time

Hi, guys!

Truck:
1994 F150 4.9L + E4OD + RWD
Fuel type:
Gas/LPG

Problem:
Truck won't start when I try it for first time in morning. I have to crank it 2 or 3 times and only then it will start acompanied with stutter and misfire but only in very beginning. Ater 2 sec engine idles normally. If I turn it off and start again - it will start with no problem. Fuel pump works fine. I have no problem start it when its hot. Only when truck hasnt been used for a while I have problem to start it. It is very weird

It cranks very easy but it wont start. I can hold ignition key and crank it for 5 sec and it wont even hit a spark. Only if I release it and start again then it will at least try to hit some spark in cylinders.

Maybe I should make a video and post it here, so you could see what is the problem?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

is it doing this only on gasoline, or on lpg as well ? how have you determined that the fuel pump works fine ? do you know what fuel pressure you have ?
the fact that it eventually starts leads me to think fuel, rather than spark.

if its not the fuel pump, replace filter and the pressure regulator.

My truck is exactly the same and im sure its my pressure regulator.

If I cycle the key a few times before I crank it starts right up

I cant start my truck on lpg - it is not possible.
Fuel pump works fine, I assume, because when I drive my truck there is no sign of fuel being not enough. Truck works fine.
Although, I dont know what fuel pressure truck have.

Hm, I havent tried cycling the key few times - i will try it tomorow.

Here is a short video:

Note: This is one of the most nicest cold starts - 99% of the rest are usually worst. As I said before - sometimes I cant even start it (engine cranks just like 00:02 - 00:03 sec of video)

You could have a leaky injector/s. Checking fuel pressure under different conditions will probably reveal a loss of pressure after a hot shut down. Gas in the engine oil would also be another clue. You can put a vacuum pump on the regulator, apply vacuum and check corresponding changes in fuel pressure.

Sounds very expensive thing, if in the end i would have to change the injectors...

Btw, mileage - 183k miles

edit:
Just changed oil - no gas in it.
Ou, and last year i accidently let my fuel tank go empty and engine stalled... maybe this is somehow connected with my problem?

I'd also agree that checking your fuel pressure is your next step in tracking down your issue. Running the tank dry may or may not ultimately be related, but you could have gotten sediment from the bottom of the tank into the filter.

but changing the fuel filter would rule that out- tank going empty coild have damaged the fuel pump if it was hot out- but normally fuel pumps either work or they dont.

If the pump is dying you would normally get no sound from it, no start, then if you smack the tank with a hammer it comes to life one last time.

but if your pump was going you most likely would be stalling more going down the road or having a real lack of power.

Second video shows much better.

And no - as you can hear, cycling key few times doesnt help.

Fault codes checked - there is only EGR 332 CODE

a quick , easy check you can do is to pull the vacuum line off the fuel pressure regulator. there should be no evidence of fuel in that line.
if that checks out ok, buy, rent, or borrow a fuel pressure gauge and check fuel pressure under different conditions as suggested.

Ok, thanks - I will do it

edit: Just checked that line - no fuel.

Now just have to check pressure in system
