Airbag Clockspring Video

Does anyone have a good video showing the airbag clockspring repair? I don't have cruise control, horn, and my airbag light flashes and stays on so from everything I'm hearing my clock spring is bad.
Also where can I find a used/discounted clockspring? The $150 pricetag isn't in the budget. Thanks for any help.

Those from Ford are usually discounted to around $200, retail parts houses usually sell Dorman for about $150 but if you can get the part number (they are different) Rock Auto will be the cheapest around $100 with a 5% discount you can google for.

Not a bad video, there are others. You just need to keep in mind the airbags can pop.

The last one I got from FICMrepair was a Ford unit and I was only out about $120.
I have all the controls in mine so I have the one that would cost the most.

We’d have to if he still at that price Sean. As Ford is running out of inventory of parts for our trucks, they start to raise the prices. “A” without controls and “AA” with controls.

Mark, thanks for posting that. I've stopped looking at ANWB because for some time their shipping costs had been high. Since you put in the link I went and put one in my cart and shipping appears to be back to where it used to be. Tasca screws up some and it would be good to put ANWB back in the loop. I found Lakeland Ford also to have normal low discounts and low shipping.

A couple of links - just adding for "posterity". Keep us informed as to how the job goes. Sorry the parts are on the expensive side (but glad the shipping charges are reasonable again)!

Awesome. Thanks Mark. And just so I'm clear, does "A" have speed control and "AA" has audio AND speed control? I don't have audio controls but I have speed control.

One way to find which part numbers are correct is go to ANWB and enter your VIN number before searching for parts. Also if they have your VIN number often they will check that you have ordered the right part. I ordered a 2007 part number trying to upgrade that part but they came back saying it wasn’t for a 2003, what they had in my profile.

Just got the part ordered so I'll be attempting it next week. Luckily it looks like the weather will cooperate.

Just replaced mine last week. Very easy job. Just make sure you disconnect batteries and have a good puller. I used the one that Oreillys rents out and it would constantly slip off.

The Ford book has you replacing the bolt.
I think part of that is you use the old bolt for the puller pivot point.
Sort of mashed the torx socket up.

Just realized I got the clockspring with the audio controls and I don't have steering wheel audio controls. I can just not plug in the audio controls connector right? Or do I need to return it?
