My 2002 X-cab 4x4 4.0 SOHC has been flawless so far, but I HATE the daytime running lights, how the h*** can I disable them, fuses and relays named to them also run other items...........Ideas?
All you have to do is remove the DRL module and replace it with a bypass(non DRL) module, this jumpers a couple circuits so the headlights and dash indicators still work. The module is located on the rad support near the drivers side headlight.

I do not like the batt. drain and loss of lamp-life this pretty much useless "safety option" entails, if I want my headlights on during the day I will turn them on, I don't need another gov. mandated, nanny-state function to "help" me.
I also would like to be able to creep along logging roads in early morn/late evenings scouting before hunting season without having these things broadcast my presence.
Thanks for the useful info on the module! where do you find a bypass module?
I don't have diagrams for yours, but when a friend asked me to do this on his Hyundai i looked at his diagram and snipped the ignition sense wire at the DRL module. DRL's wont work if the module thinks the engine isn't running. Take a look at the diagram and see if this will work on yours.
Or you might be able to remove the wire from the E-Brake and ground it,

+1000. Exactly what I would say. Just be glad you CAN disable them. My work van (2016) just throws the low beam headlights on and unfortunately there is nothing to bypass or disable (at least nothing that can be undone easily on a vehicle I don't own) so it would have to go to the dealer to have the controller reflashed. Really aggravating because all the light switch does on that thing is turn on the tail lights. If you forget to, all looks normal inside and in front of the van until Johnny Law stops you for having no tail and tag lights.
