Cowl to Hood seal

Anybody know which direction this seal is supposed to go? The body assembly manual shows it on the way it is in the picture but on both of the parts trucks I have the lip is facing forward. I don't think it would effect it's function no matter which way it is on there but if I put it on wrong every time I open the hood somebody will point at it and say you got that on backards.

I have the same question!!! Also how do I get old nails out ? They won't pull out with a claw hammer...The head of the nail is to soft and weak.
Do I cut them off and then drill them out?
Should I cut them off and leave them in ?
Should I try to free up the old bikes and use the holes again?

Lots of questions.. not sure what direction to go in

The ones I have taken out were spiral nails. You might need to tap them in just enough to break loose the rust on them. Take a pair of pliers and pull and turn at the same time. They will come out like a screw with really coarse threads.

I hate those nails. To restore a truck then punch holes in the sheet metal where it could rust makes no sense. The hood seal works just as well if you glue it with 3M weatherstrip adhesive. I welded up my nail holes prior to paint.

I agree! But my holes are still there so I suppose I will glue it and nail it. Hopefully I can locate the holes so I can put the nails in. Ford must have used some sort of nail gun to put them in with. I can't imagine anyone spending all day driving nails into 18 ga. steel and still having fingers at the end of the day.
