How does the hill holding feature work?

I have always hated it but quickly fell in love with it at the boat ramp at a steep angle. For real I could probably have shifted into drive and gotten out of the truck and I don't think it would have moved.
Each time when I had to pull out once after launching and then after loading I had to give it gas to get it to move and I could feel something releasing like the front brakes but then I wondered if it's in the transmission somewhere.... anybody know how it works?

I don't think it holds for that long, at least not in my experience. It's only holding for a few seconds and then it releases.

My dads 15' holds until you give it some gas too. One of the long list of things I don't like about the truck.

I like it as long as it works. I haven't used it that much, don't do boats but for my RV on hills it is nice but admittedly not necessary.
My issue is what is going to happen when the computer chip / circuit board / sensor that controls it fails. I will probably be ok as long as it just doesn't do anything but not work but if it makes something else fail then its just one more thing that I can't fix and will need to pay out the ears to have repaired, replaced or whatever.

it is part of the anti-lock brake system..

so IF it fails .. it does nothing. except for one or more lights displaying faults...

Hopefully I'll never have to find out which fault lights you are talking about and if I do, I hope you're right.

I wasn't ware that my truck had it then I noticed that the truck would hold the hill with my 34 " 5th wheel on the back. I don't mind it or hate it. it does make it easier stopping on hills knowing some *** pulls up on your trailer and you don't rill into him and damage my trailer Couldn't care less about his car.

I kinda like it. I would also think that if you can get into the OBD you could shut it off.
