Dentside Tailgate on a Bumpside Bed
I am selling a dentside tailgate on craigslist. Just had a guy email me who wants to know if it will fit on a bumpside. I told him I was 99% sure it wouldn't fit.
It just so happens that I have a 72 sitting in my driveway so I decided to measure both just to see how far off they are from each other.
The answer is, not as far off as I expected them to be. The quickie measurements I just took show both tailgates within about a 1/2 inch of each other.
Does anyone know what the answer is? I'd have bet a lot of money the answer is no, whether it was that they are different sizes or that the hardware wouldn't match up or both. But someone somewhere has to have tried it at some point, right?
