I'm not exactly sure. There aren't as many V8 firing orders as it might seem at first glance, because different manufacturers designate a different cylinder as the #1, or start the sequence differently, if this is allowed for then the number drops to just a few. I think they all basically fire the outer 4 cylinders and then the inner 4 though.

@Abe: different firing order means different sound! Even today with the modern Coyote engines you can hear the difference. Once I had a direct comparison with a 289 and a 351 in a '67 Mustang. The point is, that by different firing order, the sounds, implied through the single exhaust valves can overlap or not. That makes the difference. Overlapping soundwaves so to say

A short update: Tim McMaster also suggested the Ram Horn manifolds, so I'll give it a try. Now I'll look where to get them and the necessary hardware and pipes... (speedway motors or John Mummert's will be my first addresses to look for them).
