96 F-250 7.3 single cab want to make it a long lasting farm/tow rig

Ok I'm new here and I joined because I've just recently aquired my late father's 1996 f-250 7.3. I've had many 460 big blocks and not familiar too much with the 7.3. I own a small farm and would like to make this 7.3 my work horse. But have no clue on where to start. It has 220k miles on it. I was told the auto transmission was rebuilt about 7k miles ago. I had to replace all the fuel lines on the top of the motor and rebuilt the fuel bowl. It has a add a leaf on the front but was installed wrong. Also when the idiot's did the tranny they cut the front radiator core support and did a ****ty tack job putting it back together. I've fixed the welds but think I need a new one and that's hard to find. Any suggestions would help. Where should I start?

How well does it run? First thing would be to get the front springs squared away. If the shop did that to the rad support I would be a little leery of the trans.

Depending on how well it is running you might not have to do anything except drive it. Maintenance is important on these trucks. Oil changes are the life blood of this motor.

Let us know what mechanical issues it currently has and we will help you get it sorted out.

Welcome to the addiction!

It runs good now that I fixed the fuel leak issue. It was dumping about a 1/4 gallon of fuel a minute before. I do find it a bit sluggish pulling a load and I'd like to improve that. I try to up load a pic of the front spring's

Check fuel pressure at idle and at WOT in 3rd, should be min 40 but 45 is preferred.

Boost leaks on intake or exhaust can make it sluggish.

Down pipe if original can be replaced with a 3 in pipe that can make It a lil better

bolt on intake filter instead of stock one can help too like the 6637 one from NAPA
