so I ran into an new problem which I never heard of before on a ford....harley yes..ford no. there is a drain pipe that connects between the turbo and the engine. purpose of which is to provide a way for the oil that feeds the turbo bearings to return to the crank case. the design is simply a tube with an oring on the turbo side which just slide in with no lock down and on the engine side theres 2 bolts. so the problem is the oring will eventually wear and allow opil to drip down the exhaust manifold trailing edge, and then drip onto the ground, garage floor, etc. Im not too concerned with the oil drips which looks like about a quarter of a teaspoon...but the problem is the oil dripping onto the exhuast manifold is generating quite a bit of smoke and at stops or idles...the fumes are getting into the cab. cant be good for your lungs.

so the fix is to remove the turbo (good luck with that) and replace the seal which is part of the turbo install kit.

looking at the nuts and bolts involved I doubt this can be down with out breaking a rusty nut , stud, or bolt.

I just got done lifting the cab to do a rocker job and not looking forward to this one.

if the flange would have been on the turbo, instead of using the tube as a flange...it would not leak.

I think your engine had a hard life to be so low on the miles. Mine at 120K doesn't have this issue either.
