Must have a smooth ride

See this? My gas cap on my running board. I got gas today, put the nozzle back on the pump and grabbed the receipt and took off. When I got home I saw it on the running board. I drove about 3 miles, stopped to get ice at the local firehall and it stayed on.

Reminds me of my Dad and his 48 Chevy 3/4 ton pickup. He drove to work about 8 miles with a coffee cup on his running board.

Awesome! When I was at that 2 truck car show the other day. We took off in my truck. Well I got about 1/2 mile down the road and wondered where my phone was. I turned around to go back to the place to look then I remembered. I had checked the oil before we headed out and I put my water and phone on my bumper. I stopped and ran to the front and there was the phone. Lost the water though.

Must have been a smooth road too. It's amazing how simple things like these get us thinking.
I usually chalk it up to my old age. Lol

I NEVER forget my gas cap. The reason? I put the cap in my shirt pocket when I take it off. If I'm wearing a shirt without a pocket I put in it my wallet pocket. You will not forget it in either place...

It was mainly on city streets, top speed maybe 45. And our streets are not smooth. They have been cut up and patched for water main problems, gas line installations, etc.

I once saw a women put her purse on the car roof, unlock the car, get in and drive off. I followed her and tried to flag her down without any luck. She pulled into a grocery store lot, parked, got out locked the car, reached up and took her purse! I asked her if she realized she had driven about 2 miles with her purse on the roof? She looked at me as if I was nuts smiled and walked off.

Maybe we should start a contest to see how far we can drive with stuff on the running boards or front bumper.

My 49 dodge truck had the battery box in the floor. I kept the wrench sitting on top the battery from the time i put the new battery in until it went dead and i had to replace it over a year later.

So, what should I put on the bumper and running boards for my travels next week?
Coins? An old wrench? it's gotta be something that won't hurt someone behind me if it falls off and something I don't care about losing.

Use a pair of work gloves. I love picking those up in the road and using them. Gotta be both of them though.
