Pitman arm. Manual vs. Power steering?
Hi guys. I was wondering if anyone knows what the difference is between a manual and power steering pitman arm? I am trying to convert to manual steering but can't find a manual pitman arm. Is there a difference? Any info would be appreciated. Thank you.

Looks like I failed to get that info on the page here: Tie Rods and Drag Links - ???Gary's Garagemahal. Will do so later today, and filter out the extraneous stuff. But, in the interim, here ''tis with the extra stuff included.

Hi guys, Sorry for the slow reply. Thanks for the info and part numbers. Mine is a 2wd. I found a manual box at a salvage yard and was just hoping to just get a new pitman arm. I read on here that the steering box from a Econoline, Ranger and F100's would work on my truck, but cant find the pitman arm for any of them. Certain years of course. I Just wanted to make sure there was a difference. I will keep looking. Thanks again for the info!!!

This is for GM boxes but I cant see this being different for Fords?
I have found with boxes you may get them from other models like say a van or car but the pitman arms are different between them.
I have also found the output shafts are different between power/non-power boxes. Power had the bigger output shaft and why the different pitman arms.
The other thing I found was the input shafts were also different sizes. I cant remember what one was larger but a guess the power box was the larger one.

I'm older than you, and I've heard then called that for all my life. It comes from the box that holds the sector shaft: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pitman_arm.
