I have a 1984 F-150 with a 4 spd OD transmission Tag number
RUG DB JA1
EOTR AB 0685
I was wondering if this is the right transmission. I have a 351 V8
which was converted to 4 spd OD. from an automatic.
The Differential tag says,
WDM DM 4G23
3 00 9 S316D
The ford specification book dosen't seem to have a 351 4v with the 4 spd OD trans.
I was also curious as to what would be the correct Diff. gear set for this trans.
The speedometer is also reading incorrectly (low i think)
Looks like a miss match
The various 4 speed OD trannies all had OD ratios of around 0.80:1. Your 9" has a 3.00:1 ratio. That gives you an overall ratio in OD of around 2.40:1. It probably doesn't accelerate very well. You can correct the speedo by changing the speedo driven gear in the tranny tailshaft housing.
