F150 - The new "WorkHorse" for towing
I don't live far from a couple campgrounds and see trucks with trailers daily.
This afternoon while out mowing the east-40, I saw an F150 towing double.. a fifth wheel about 35' long with a decked out bass boat behind that. He seemed to have no troubles starting off from a dead stop and pulling up the hill at the end of my street...
Just a few years ago, he would have needed an F250 or larger to drag that setup..
Pretty proud of Ford for delivering such a capable truck!

With these lighter trucks, I'm more worried about a "tail wagging the dog" situation. I towed a 32' trailer weighing 8,500 with my SD-V10. I have no doubt my F-150 could tow the same trailer, but I'd be worried about the short wheel base and lighter weight for cross-winds and emergency stops.

In most states that permit double towing, the lead trailer must be a fifth wheel or gooseneck. These types of trailers don't suffer from the same trailer sway that conventional trailers do because the attachment point is directly over the axle.
As long as the F150 can handle the tongue weight and the brakes are in working order I can see this working well. Until you have to back up!
