Hey Bill. New water pump (but I installed it myself, so, you know).

Possibility that the thermostat is not opening??

Condition of the radiator, is it plugged some not allowing full flow??

When I have replaced the coolant in my older vehicles, I always filled the radiator to just below the neck and run it with the cap off to "burp" the air out of the system. You can tell when the thermostat opens because you will see the coolant bubble and then flow if you have it down low enough so that the rows in the radiator core are exposed.

Steve, did you replace that heater valve that you were talking about??

I wonder if it is in the off position and could be restricting the coolant flow.

Some truck talk. I think my coolant is not circulating. The water should be running by when I open the cap, but it just kind of bubbles. that can't be good.

my temp gauge doesn't work, so i better get that going. i might be burning up my motor.
If the thermostat is closed it won't circulate. Is it over heating? If your temp gauge is working and not showing over heating or fluid bubbling out, I wouldn't worry about it

Morning folks and happy Friday. Lots of fun happening again today - and a job shipping tomorrow so...oh boy...

Neil - no, haven't gotten the new twin pipes on the OBS yet. Hopefully tomorrow.

hi everyone,

Neil and Jim, thanks for the advice. No, my temp gauge is not working. i'll fix that and then see if my engine is overheating. when i drive it for a while, turn it off and turn it back on, i have a hard time restarting it. it's like the battery is almost dead (the starter barely engages). Could overheating cause that?

I didn't fix that heater valve yet. maybe that's the problem.

hey, friday. woohoo! golf this afternoon in the sweltering heat. better than work.

Morning Cody and Steve.

Looks like rain here right now Steve, so I don't think there'll be any golfing today...maybe a visit to the 19th hole though...

Steve, that valve could be partially closed restricting full coolant flow. I think that it is possible that if it is closed that it could cause an overheating situation. I would suggest getting that valve replaced and fixing your temperature gauge. The starter issues could be related to solenoid on the starter or the starter itself getting overheated and not operating properly. There is my $0.02....lol

Definitely get the gauge working. Hard to look for problem without knowing what is going on. Overheated could cause that. How old is the starter?
