Factory installed. No, you can't get them added after it's left the factory...

I really wish Ford would just make them a standard feature on a Super Duty. They are too important of a feature to not be able to be added later.

Yes you can install upfitters. But you would likely have to do it yourself at incredible cost.

Yes, you can have upfitters added. I had mine done about a month ago at local dealer. Was about $800, I think. I have 2017 F250 Super Duty Crew Cab Short Bed Lariat.

I agree for the nominal cost add them to every truck. Add the tailgate step to that list as well. I searched 4 states and prob 70 trucks. Passed on about 10 because no upfitters or tailgate step. As a GM, I'd specify every unit w both options. Crap... add the electronic diff to the list too.

Check out the SPods as an alternate solution.

If they are anything like the Ram's, they provide ground for a relay that runs the device.

If that is so, then all you would need is the overhead panel/switches. You'd wire up your accessory like you normally would with a relay, but you'd run the ground wire from the relay to the Aux switch.

I'm probably grasping as straws here, but hopefully it's something really that simple.

I added them to my Ram for $60 for the switch panel. Ran the 5 ground wires into the engine bay, and they are ready for whatever...

The cost was not overly expensive, found the parts for about $400 including shipping. Unfortunately, the dealer would not sell me the parts. Not sure why Ford will not allow this upgrade.

Can you post up a list of the parts? Thanks in advance!

Here's what I was able to find after a web search. The console part number is for a light camel with pwr sliding rear window enhance security. You'd have to find the console part number that matches your current configuration. I'm also unsure if the switch assembly is included with the console or has to be ordered as well. I also believe the fuses and relays will also have to added to the relay box.

I just dealt on a 2017 on a dealers lot. It had no upfitters. Told him if he added them in I would buy the truck. Salesman said sure no problem. He then checked and told me it couldn't be done!

As I posted above, yes, you can add upfitter swithces. I purchased my 2017 F250 Lariat CC 4X4 short bed from a dealer in California under less than ideal circumstances (traveling with a big trailer and my 2007 F350 died a very expensive death, this truck had almost everything I wanted, didn't have upfitter. Salesman said no problem also). Local dealer initally said they didn't think so. Aggressive service guy said he would work on it. Eventually figured out all the parts and verified than my truck had the correct connections in place.

Upfitter switches, console, fuse box, harnesses were installed a couple of months ago. Everything works perfectly and looks like it came from the factory. Copy of invoice attached below. If any questions, please let me know.
