Tire Pressure Sensors

I bought a 2016 F150 XLT with standard 18 " wheels. I swapped wheels with my 2008 F150 which had 22" Ford wheels. Now there is a tire pressure fault on the 2016 and the light is on on both trucks. Can this be fixed??

Did you put the sensors from your 2016 in the old wheels? If you did you need to get a tool to reset the TPMS, it's 25 bucks or so. Or stop by any good tire shop and ask them to do it. If you didn't put the newer sensors in, you will need them.

Dealership, Tires Plus/Firestone, Discount tire, Big O Tires, etc should be able to make them work for you without issue.

I'm really not fan of the TPMS on my 2019 SRW. The rear two sensors are showing low pressure at 71 psi which is a really silly pressure to be running on snow/ice here in Colorado. Until I get Forscan to modify this setting I get the warning every time I start my truck since I prefer closer to 60 psi on my stock 18's. There is no need to run 70+ psi when the truck is empty, but I guess we can thank the govt nannies for keeping us safe....

If Ford put TPMS on the 450's, they'd expect you to run 110 psi all the time.

When I changed my wheels I bought a new set of sensors off fleabay. They put them in and did nothing else and they work fine. The tool is an unnecessary expense.

The old and new sensors are not compatible. You will have to swap the sensors to correct the light issues.

Does anyone have any experience with TPMS Re-learn tools such as the Autel TS408?

Specifically with trailer TPMS sensors. It would be nice to avoid letting air out to "learn" the sensors.
