help on a complete body and chassis swap
history: 1999 F-250 Lariat Super Duty, 2WD, 7.3L, 6-speed manual tranny, extended cab, 8 ft bed, 147K miles - purchased w 45k miles apr 2015.
situation: family is currently Hubby, wifey, 4YO boy. wifey due in DEC! extended cab isn't enough room for 2 kids.
i'd like to keep my low mileage motor, my manual 6-speed tranny, and my full 8 ft bed (basically because i'm having to replace her vehicle too and cant afford 2 new vehicles, AND I like my truck!). I'm pretty sure a crew cab body will not fit my existing chassis and still let me keep my bed (but i'm coming down to the wire and may sacrifice). i need a crew cab long bed diesel body only. then I swap: enging, tranny, dash, GEM. if it's a gasoline chassis, I also swap tank and fuel lines.
OK guys, is this even doable? if it is, anybody know of anything available? I do have a line on a 2007 gasoline body and chassis with a blown motor for 2k. How possible is that swap? I realize this is a completely huge project. but i'm trying to keep what I like, get what I need, and do it all for as cheap as I can...
Any help or "sound" advice, technical or mechanical (not family planning), is appreciated.... thanks
