I wish to add the OEM trailer brake control module. I have already located the cable and plug on the rear of the coin holder. I have ordered the factory part by vin number after getting the run around about it not being as built. My question is about the actual installation. I have heard that a PCM update via the OBD port is required. Is this fact and dealer only ???

 

Yes it needs to be enabled by the dealer or someone that has the ford IDS system.


My bet would be the cost of one hours labor.


Also make sure the fuses are in place in the power distribution box for the towing circuit.
