Early 1980s ford color question
#2
Hello !
I just registered last night after being a casual but longtime reader of this outstanding board, it's my first post here. I have an 84 F150 Longbed 4x4 300-4 speed that I have had for a few years and I'm about to begin her rehab....I LOVE this truck. I saved this photo
which I'm pretty sure belongs to a member here. As I recall, the gentleman had his Uncle repaint this awesome little specimen in its original color. I know computer pictures are not 100% accurate for the various reasons, but I believe this to be either Pastel Caramel (or Pastel Chamois ?) Or Antique Cream from the early 80s ford charts. Can any authority here confirm this or offer some insight? I drove a similar Ranger in the same color (for one of my first jobs out of high school...the shop truck) and want to redo my truck in this shade.
Thanks in advance !
Shawn

If it is anything like the red Ford had on the trucks it was called a different name over the 80-86 years.
Then depending on who's paint you are buying it thru they may call it a different name too.
The best thing is to find the color you like by color code and the year and order it by that year & code.

I just remembered there is an on line auto/truck color chip site and if I can remember the address I will post it up.
Colors are not great when seen with a computer but should help some.

Yes that is about the size the color samples were on the page but in person they are a lot closer to the real color.
I wished I had all my dad's old color books and interchange books from when we had a shop. I think he had color books going back to the 40's.
