Will a new Ecoboost meet my needs?

That's the way it goes with these kinds of things. Lots of early skeptics. As we all gain experience, we understand that things have changed.
The EcoBoost skeptics have to realize that there have been literally millions of these things built.

... and the ecoboost was investigated by the government for its fatal misfire fiasco. You guys are the first around the web and my area to actually like the ecoboost. You guys must have bought the unicorns!

Investigation was closed in 2014 by NHTSA after Ford made some fixes. This pretty much happens all the time when something new is introduced.
The specific conditions necessary for the reduced power situation to occur have been addressed with several intake and air cooler modifications. Ford issued a technical service bulletin to dealers that addresses how to deal with it. The fix includes the installation of a small deflector shield in the air stream. The 2014 F-150 has the fix.
And for the OP, I bought my F150 EB for the specific purpose of towing an 8K trailer w/race car and something for the wife to use in the winter. I was seriously considering an F250, but after talking and talking some more to F150 EB owners, I concluded the F250 would be more than I'd need. Last year we towed all over the Midwest and the truck did all I needed it to do. I do not regret our decision one bit.

And yet the ecoboost still suffers from condensate induced misfires. The multitude of TSBs never fixed the problems. The ecoboost is a crummy design that will go down as the worst ford engine ever made.

You keep saying this, but after a decade, the Ecoboost has only gotten more popular. It's proven its durability, and every flaw you mention doesn't seem to be present in any of the current Ecoboost engines. Any remote design flaws were worked out years ago, and any that continue to linger are maybe one in a million. Are you sure that no other Ford engine in the last 114 years has ever been as "crummy" as any of Ford's--what--five current Ecoboost engines?

It is still there.... the 2017 Raptor community is now drilling the 1/16" weep hole in the intercooler as they are having terrible condensate buildup problems. I wish this engine would have worked out for Ford. But, it did not and has pushed many longtime ford people away from the brand. I don't know anyone that has had a positive 3.5 ecoboost experience.

So this is where trollymctrollface is coming up with the intercooler issue from https://www.raptorforumz.com/threads/drive-train-issue.27771/
That is the ONLY issue to have come up since the redesign, so I'm guessing it's the only problematic one and that it needs to be looked at by a dealer and not "diagnosed" on a forum.

Is that it? A hole that needed drilling? That makes the entire Ecoboost lineup the worst engine Ford ever made?
If so, you're saying that Ford has had a very impressive lineup of engines for its entire history, which I'm inclined to believe!

Here's the thing, go to a forum for any make or model and guess what there will be people bitching about somthing. So even if 100 people on a forum have the exact issue they still only represent a small percentage of the total owner pool. People tend to seek out forums when they have issues a whole lot more then to say how great something is.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy another and another and another. Going forward from here, I now know where the initial piece of maintenance needs to happen in order to mitigate any misfires. Knowing this info will make future experiences much more pleasurable.
I tried to rep ya brother, I'm currently out of scooby snacks.

Why should you as a consumer have to deal with a half baked design? Why do you as a consumer have to change spark plugs at very frequent intervals and drill a 1/16" intercooler weep hole just to make it drive correctly? This makes no sense. It is a faulty design that ford spent numerous years and TSBs on and it still is a huge problem.
