Torque Converter Advice
I have a '99 7.3L PSD 2wd crew cab, short box that needs to have the torque converter replaced. I plan to do some (potentially) long distance 5th whl towing with the truck (approx. 10000 lbs). Any advice/recommendations for brand, model, specs, for a torque converter?

I would suggest a "multi-disc" converter. They hold over drive / fourth gear much better. Should not cost too much more than a stock unit. Might want to replace the tiny 7.3L tranny cooler with a 6.0L cooler, if you have not done so already. It will help keep that trans running much cooler & help it last longer. Another idea is to service the trans by dropping the pan & replacing the internal filter, gasket & fluid. These simple steps will help save you major repairs, if you are not up to date on your servicing. just food for thought.

The discs in the converter have nothing to do with holding any gears. It will hold converter lock up better.
