Thanks Casper1999, and thanks again to Stu for schooling me. Until now I thought all my wheels were widow makers, now I am only looking for 4 not 6 replacements. I will hang the widow makers on the wall of my shop as decoration.

So 4 wheels, passenger side glass and exterior door handles are first on the wish list. If anyone has any of these laying around give me a PM please.

So removed the gas tank from the cab today. Wasn't too bad a job. The thing was literally falling apart as I was removing it. First thing to go was this tool tray that sat on top of it. Still had a adjustable wrench in it.

The neck wasn't hard to remove, a couple minutes with the flathead. After that about 2 more 5/8 bolts and some crowbar action and it came out.

And I even got the hood raised after a couple of hours and several curse words. Will try to find the number on the block tomorrow and see what year/type engine it is. Will need headers and pipes, the tail pipe on it connected to a 24" glasspack fell off during loading.

Going to pick up some more beer kegs Wednesday. Did a quick mock up to look at it a few days to see how I felt about it.

Again the truck will be lower slightly by removal of some leaf springs. Have decided to remove the Y block engine, check to make sure it turns by wrench, then see if I can swap it for a engine and tranny set up from the 80's. Plan on either a auto with overdrive or a five speed manual. Opinions welcome especially if you have gone this route yourself.

If anyone has a need for the standard transmission let me know. According to the Ford mechanic at the Ford dealership this tranny had less than 100 miles on it when the truck was parked. I can provide you his name and the number at the dealership so you can call and confirm if you like. Actually the number can be seen on the side of my truck, just add a 662 in front of it.

Trying to remove the seat today so I can finish sweeping out the rat droppings, must be a nut on the bottom of the bolts under the cab.

Thanks for looking,

Michael

So I had another thread asking about the pros and cons of sticking with the Y block that is in my project truck. Yesterday I picked up a 300 straight 6 with a 3 speed tranny from a F100. This was a donated set for the build, all it cost me was gas and 3 bottles of my home made wine

. I don't think the 3 speed would work well so plan to go with either a auto with OD or a five speed manual tranny.
