The first one I picked showed $7300 discount, add $5k and it's probably another few hundred markup, but we'll assume similar. That would be $55k and some change. Used it's on sale for $41, so $16k savings, or $0.40 cent a mile depreciation. KBB shows $41k-$49k... so chances are the truck has been sitting at that lot for awhile to get the reduced price (or it's not CPO... I'm going off CPO that way we don't have to factor value of warranty nearly as much). Oasis is clean, it's a USA sold truck (January of 2016 if you want to know) and assuming a clean Car Fax and no other issues, it would represent a pretty good buy. It's still only $0.40 cents a mile though. Government deductions per mile is $0.51 right? That leaves $0.11 cents for fuel, and only 4000 miles of non bumper to bumper warranty. $3.00 a gallon and 18 MPG puts you at $0.17 for fuel. So you're spending what, $0.06 per mile for the privilege of new? I'm sure there are other ways to do the math too, but for us non-college educated folks, I think that is straight forward enough.

I spent a lot of time looking over the F150's. My last was a 09 Lariat that quite frankly I didn't like all that much. The fancy interiors are nice to look at but the leather steering wheel soon started to peel, the seats were hot and very slippery. That's not real leather for sure on a standard Lariat. Don't get me wrong, I'm a Ford fan thru and thru but I was talked into this truck in a trade situation for my diesel Super Duty. I put about 50k on it, it got around 16 mph with the V8.
I settled on a 16 F150 XLT with 3.5 V6 after driving every combination on the lot. Let me mention here I found there to be very many nice low mileage lease returns in the area. All were similar in the equipment and mileage and with all available engines to choose from. Around 15k to 25k miles. All priced about $4k under current book. A quick search of 100 mile radius produced over 100 of these trucks so we had a lot to choose from. Most were Ford Certified which comes with a 7 year 100,000 mile warranty. Not to mention a very low interest rate.
The reason I went with the 3.5 non-turbo was simple. My driving style proved there to be little difference between the Eco Boost and the non-turbo'd engine. At normal driving you just couldn't tell the difference. But you certainly could when you put your foot into it. Strangely I started out with only the V8 in mind. Driving these trucks completely changed my mind. But the turbo's just don't turn me on. Too much potential trouble down the line. And the salesman pointed out, the Eco Boost mileage would fall fast at faster highway speeds. that makes sense. He was pretty adamant that anything over 70 MPH would drop the mileage significantly. Not very encouraging!
So, I found just what I wanted. A durable and yet very comfortable truck with no encumbering center consol. I really missed my 40/20/40 bench the SD had and the Lariat's cramped front seat just annoyed me. But to each his own. The truck gets consistent 24 MPG in mixed driving. I have made a 5000 mile trip from Florida to Minnesota and this is without a doubt the most comfortable, pleasant driving truck I ever had. While there, a friend rode to lunch with me and called me a liar when I told him it was a non-turbo's V6. I had to open the hood to show him.
So, I guess if I were you I would do the same. Try them all out and see what fits your style. But I wouldn't assume the 3.5 isn't adequate. it will surprise you as much as the Eco Boost. If spinning tires turns your crank, go with the Eco Boost V6 or V8.

These are great trucks. I too am totally satisfied with my 16. However, I have no problem going 450 -500 miles on a tank of gas. (about a 20 gal fill give or take)The tank in my belly certainly can't go that far. Do you pull a trailer and if so, what kind of mileage do you get? I'm thinking of a small travel trailer may be in my future.

Likewise. We get 21-22 MPG when we're empty, with a little variation depending on cruising speed and traffic. When we're pulling our TT, we get between 12 and 14 again depending on speed, terrain, and traffic. When we're pulling in the mountains, I see 11-ish.
